Continuing on...

We have been continuing on in all of our learning areas - reading, writing, letter work, math, etc. Students have been working hard! A couple of highlights include our morning password (which leads to reading small books), letter names, sounds, and handwriting practice (which leads to more independence during Writers' Workshop), and our beginning discussion about 3-D shapes. Today I gave the students four shapes (cube, cone, cylinder, sphere) to pass around the circle during our math time. Students made observations of these shapes and Ms. Ringer, our special educator, recorded their observations. They were spectacular. I will post a picture of what they said tomorrow night (I forgot to take a picture before I left school). We haven't yet told the students the names of these shapes, but will tomorrow. Over the next week, we will discuss these observations to see if they fit as attributes and/or descriptions of the shapes we are learning. Please send in 3-D objects tomorrow for a shape sort if you can... Password words so far - am, see, can, we, my... Letters we have re-visited so far - s, m, r, t, b, n
